Hola - hola!

Estaba pensando que no les había contado sobre este nuevo grupo que creé en Facebook, se llama Ilustradoras Venezolanas.

Tenía tiempo queriendo crear este grupo, desde diciembre del año pasado realmente!. La idea nace por varias causas jeje. La principal es que cuando realizaba la búsqueda de 24 ilustradoras para los 24 regalitos que organizamos en diciembre, me di cuenta de la cantidad de ilustradoras Venezolanas que existían y no tenía idea!.

La segunda razón es que yo vivo fuera de Venezuela desde hace un tiempo y por más de que me he unido a varios grupos de ilustración, no me he sentido completamente como en casa. Entonces pensé que mejor que tener un grupo de chicas con quien hablar, preguntar dudas, contar cuentos, situaciones y hasta triunfos que tenemos con la ilustración, teniendo en común aparte nuestro país, y que de alguna u otra forma, estando dentro o fuera de Venezuela podemos compartir nuestras experiencias y tips.

Por aquí comparto la lista de los instagram de las ilustradoras que encontré, seguro faltan muuuchas más! Así que si saben de alguien más, las invito a que las escriban aquí abajito y les cuenten de este grupo chevere que existe en Facebook!.

Hello - hello!

I was thinking that I haven’t told you anything about this new group that I have created on Facebook, it is called Ilustradoras Venezolanas.

I have been thinking about this since December of last year actually!. The idea came to me for two reasons. The main reason is that when I was searching for 24 illustrators for the 24 presents that we organized last December, I realized how many Venezuelan illustrators existed and I had no idea !.

The second reason is that I have been living outside of Venezuela for a while and, even though I have joined a few illustration groups, I haven’t completely felt at home. Then I thought it would be awesome to have a group of girls, illustration artist coming from Venezuela to talk about doubts, stories and triumphs. Also, in one way or another, being inside or outside of Venezuela we can help each others and share our experiences and tips.

Here is the list of illustrators that I found, surely there are many more! So if you know someone else, I invite you to write them down here and tell them about this cool group we have on Facebook! :)

TARAAAAN! Web done! lista!

Wooooow! I did not realize that I had not said aaaaaanything about this! ... I suppose that for a long time, perhaps since I created this blog, I used it to post my illustrations and works buuut with the arrival of Instagram... I forgot a little (A LOT) about the blog haha. But oh well! I should get back at this! Here you can talk way more and these days I'm very talkative.

So! Finally my website is ready!! Wiiii!!

I have been thinking about this at least since 2013, taking VERY seriously (riiiight) the web page thing. In all my end-of-year lists was the - This year! thiiiis year will be the year when I'm going to have done my web! - I never did. Maybe it was for lack of time, for laziness, for not wanting stress out about not knowing anything about this web world or... yeah, they were just excuses, there is always time when you want something so much!.

Everything started when I did my illustration postgraduate, throughout the year, they always mentioned us the importance of having a web!, a professional portfolio with your most relevant work and all your social media.

And...Finally! Last year I started my web! (this time I was really serious about it), I started documenting myself about different web pages options. There were some pages where everything is supposedly to be very easy! and where you can really have your portfolio without having to pay (retaining the name of the web). I tried with Squarespace, Wix, Format, Cargo Collective and other pages that I don't remember... I don't really know why I didn't get to like any of them. Maybe I was overwhelmed with all the information or I maybe I was too frustrated by not understanding well, but none of these pages worked for me. Besides, at the time I was living between Venezuela and Colombia and my money entry was mostly Venezuelan currency, having to pay every month for the "rent" of my web in dollars was not a plan for me.

Between these streses there were long intervals of time, because my patience was coming to and end, also reading so many things and opinions was driving me a little crazy. I finally decided to go with Wordpress! I found a website where it explained everything from the domain, hosting, to Wordpress basics.

I started to watch a tons of video tutorials on how to start your Wordpress web page. Then one dayyy I finally finished my web! ... of course ... me, not knowing anything about web (and I still do not know much haha) it came out like "orichalbaud.wordpress.com" OMG! What a Fail!! Soooo I watch mooore tutorials and tried to figure out what the heck I had done wrong and how could I fix it. Frankly I don't even know how I did it but it worked and I managed to have my * www.orichalbaud.com * (Insert here lots of crowd noises!).

It was something I had to do. Me and no one else! The thing was personal!. I won't lie to you ... several times I thought about having it done for a web specialist, you know.. when my patience was near to the end haha.

Guys! When you are in that place when you think you can't do it anymore and you are all stressed out, just take your time!, take aaaaall the time you need to review these pages with pre-made templates, check all the different price options, plans and make the best decision that suits you.


Then just pass your web page links and tell me how was your experience! :D

Wausss! No me había dado cuenta de que no había dicho nada pero naaada de esto por aquí!...Supongo que desde hace tiempo, quizás desde que lo creé lo utilizaba para montar mis ilustraciones y trabajos peeeero con la llegada del Instagram olvidé un poco (BASTANTE) el blog jaja. Pero bueno! por aquí se puede hablar un pelo más y en estos días estoy conversona.

Entonces, les cuento! Finalmente mi web esta lista!! Wiiii!!

Tenía por lo menos desde el 2013, tomándome muy MUY enserio (Si claro) el rollo de la pág web. En todas mis listas de fin de año estaba el  - Ahora si! este año tengo una web! -  y nada que la hacía. Quizás por tiempo, por pereza, por no querer stresarme al no saber nada de este mundo web o quizás por falta de tiempo de nuevo...puras excusas al final, siempre hay tiempo cuando uno quiere!

Todo el tema intensidad web, viene a que cuando hice el postgrado de ilustración, siempre nos dijeron la importancia de tener web!, de tener un portafolio profesional y con tantas redes sociales que hay ahora, un punto en donde pudieran encontrarse todas estas plataformas.

Así que...El año pasado finalmente comencé mi web! (esta vez si fue en serio), empecé a explorar varias opciones! páginas en donde todo es supuestamente muy fácil! y donde realmente puedes tener tu portafolio sin tener que pagar (conservando el nombre de dicha web). Probé con Squarespace, Wix, Format, Cargo Collective y otros que no recuerdo...y por una u otra cosa no me terminaban de gustar, aparte, me parecía más profesional tener mi nombre con el ".com".

La cosa es que no se si es que me abrumé con toda la información o me frustré por no entender bien, pero ninguna de estas páginas me funcionó. Aparte, en el momento estaba entre Venezuela y Colombia y mi entrada de dinero seguían siendo en su mayoría bolívares, y tener que pagar cada mes por la "renta" de mi web no era plan para mí.

Entre estos streses hubo intervalos de tiempo prolongados, porque se me iba la paciencia leyendo tantas cosas y opiniones. Finalmente me decidí por Wordpress! Encontré una web donde me explicaban todo lo del dominio, hosting y un poco sobre lo básico de Wordpress y comencé!.

Empecé a ver full videos tutoriales de como poner manos a la obra! Poco a poco lo fui logrando hasta que la termine!...claro...con esto de que no sabía ( y aún no lo se bien jaja) como es esto de Wordpress, lo cree todo como un orichalbaud.wordpress.com. Que Fail!! me tocó regresar a ver más tutoriales para ver que diablos había hecho mal y como arreglarlo. Entonces...más días para llenarme de paciencia........Francamente ni se como lo logré pero funcionó y logré tener mi * www.orichalbaud.com * (Inserta aquí bulla mucha bulla!).

Era una cosa que tenía que hacer yo, yo y nada más que yo! La cuestión era personal!. No les voy a mentir... varias veces pensé mandarla a hacer cuando ya mi paciencia no daba para más.

Así que chico/as! Cuando crean que ya no pueden más con su paciencia...ommmmm solo tómense su tiempo!, tómense el tiempo para revisar estas páginas con plantillas pre fabricadas, revisen varias opciones de precios, planes y tomen la decisión que más les convenga.

Luego me pasan el link de su web y me cuentan que tal les fue a ustedes! :D

Mimi's cookies Logo

Hey guys! I recently made this logo for Mimi's Cookies, a bakery business in my hometown Maracaibo. Everybody has a different way of making logos, and I wanted to share my process with you through some pics :) I had a really nice time making it!

Hola chicos! Recientemente hice un logo para los postre de Mimi's Cookies de Maracaibo. Cada quien tiene una forma distinta de realizar logos, les muestro mi proceso para este logo con unas fotitos :) La pasé muy bien realizando este logo!

They wanted a logo with the business name, a character (one of the owners), they liked blue colors but they were opened to all colors.

Ellas querían un logo con el nombre de su negocio, con un personaje (una de las dueñas), les gustaba mucho el color azul pero estaban abiertas a usar la paleta que se viera mejor. 

First I made some logo sketches with the business name!

Primero hice varios bocetos a lápiz con el nombre! 

At first I wanted to have the text and the icon separated so that they weren't obliged to use them always together.

Al principio quería tener separado el texto del icono, así no estarían obligados a usarlos siempre juntos.

I took a pic from this sketches and tried some digital sketches, also tried adding some cute fonts I already had downloaded from dafont.com :D

Luego tomé foto de los bocetos y digitalicé alguno de ellos, con la tableta hice alguna de las letricas y luego con unas fuentes que había descargado en dafont.com anteriormente intenté otras cositas :D

In my first sketches the cookie was everywhere haha but then I thought it was going to be too much, the character and the cookie!
En mis primeros bocetos la galleta estaba en todas partes! jaja, luego la eliminé porque iba a ser mucho con demasiado galleta más personajes.

After that, I thought about the color palette, I love the blue and pink mix, and because it's a bakery business between two sisters and they wanted something cute, pink was perfect for this hehe. The light brown color was for the character skin color.
Luego de eso pensé en la paleta de colores que iba a utilizar, me gustó la mezcla azul con rosado. Como el negocio es de repostería entre dos hermanas, me pareció que el rosado le daba ese toque cuchi y lindo. El marrón claro lo pensé para el color de piel.

Then I made the Logo icon, I had two pictures from the business owner, her hair is brown but I thought I would be great having her hair in blue, so I wouldn't have to add anooother color to the palette. This is a fun bakery business so it would give it a touch of magic as well! and also fun hair colors are in haha.
Luego comencé con el icono o personaje, tenía dos fotos que me habían enviado anteriormente. Su cabello es marrón pero me pareció bien que el cabello fuera azul para no agregar más colores a la paleta del logo, además así le daba un toque mágico yyy también están de moda estos colores en el pelo! jaja.

I started with a sketch, took a picture with my phone, and sent it to myself through Dropbox app, then I draw the lines and added some colors, shadows and details. Normally I would make a logo with less details, but I though it would be nice to have it done with lots of details.

Comencé con el boceto a lápiz, luego le tomé una foto con mi teléfono y me lo envié por la aplicación Dropbox, luego hice las líneas, agregué detalles y sombras. Normalmente cuando realizo logos agrego menos detalles, pero me pareció bien hacerlo esta vez para que se viera más lindo.

I made 4 logo options, so they could choose one of them, and then we could work on other things. I actually liked a lot the four of them haha.
Realicé 4 opciones de logo para que luego escogieran una opción y realizar otras cosas a partir de esta. A mi me gustaron mucho los 4! me hubiera costado escoger jaja.

I though they could also use it without the circle.

También pensé que podrían usarlo sin el círculo de fondo. 

Annnd I decided to illustrate it too, just in case they would need something more traditional :) And also because I've never illustrate a logo with markers and colored pencil and felt like doing it haha
Yyyyy luego decidí ilustrarlo también, en caso de que quisieran algo más tradicional :) y también lo hice porque nunca había ilustrado un logo y me dio ganas de hacerlo jiii
