It's my second year doing the challenge 36 Days of Type!
Like the name says, it is a challenge that last 36 days, in this days you would create a complete alphabet and the numbers,. You were supposed to post them on instagram with the #36daysoftype. This would not only help you to be more creative but also with hashtag you could see all the works from the ones that were participating and meet some new artist.
Es mi segundo año haciendo el reto de 36 Days of Type!
Como lo dice el nombre, este reto se realiza en 36 días. En estos días tienes que crear un alfabeto completo y los números. Luego de realizarlos los posteas en tu cuenta de instagram con el #36daysoftype. De esta forma haciendo este reto no solo pones a prueba tu creatividad sino que con el hashtag también puedes ver el trabajo de otras personas y conocer a nuevos artistas!.
Last year I made a cute make up type with markers and colored pencils, which I really liked but never got to make the numbers. This year, I wanted to change a little the technique, but! I didn't wanted to go very crazy with everything...most of it because I new I couldn't take hours of the day for making this, so I stablished my self a set of rules!
El año pasado realicé una tipografía de maquillaje con marcadores y colores de madera la cual me gustó mucho pero no llegué a hacer los números!. Este año quise cambiar las cosas un poquito cambiando de técnica, perooo no quería ir tampoco a lo loco... más que todo por cuestiones de tiempo, no quería estar en esto horass así que establecí unas reglas para mi!
Siii... yo se que establecer reglas no es precisamente lo mejooor para soltar tu creatividad jaja pero tener estas reglas me ayudaron a ahorrar un montón de tiempo. No quería que fuera algo complicado porque luego se que me hubiera aburrido y hubiera perdido el interés y no hubiera completado este reto.
So..first of all I decided I wanted to use paper, because lately I have seen so many beautiful paper art work and wanted to change a little bit the materials. I decided to go with a set of construction papers I had at home, I decided I would use for eeeverything 6 different colors. To save more time I cut squares for the backgrounds and cut the letters in yellow.
Así que primero decidí que iba a utilizar papel porque ultimamente he visto muchísimos artes en papel hermosos que me han llamado la atención y quería cambiar mis materiales por un ratico. Decidí utilizar una cartulina de construcción que tenía en la casa y decidí utilizar nada más 6 colores distintos para todo. Para ahorrar mas tiempo todavía decidí cortar los fondos en cuadrados y cortar las letras en amarillo.
También decidí que usaría 6 tipos de formas, rosadas y rojas cuando el fondo fuera verde y azul. Azul y verde cuando el fondo fuera naranja o rojo.
Por último pensé en utilizar un patrón en mitad de las letras. Utilicé 3 patrones.
Y este es el resultado!
I definitely tried something different with the paper, it's very different from what I always do so it was fun!, I also liked the fact that there were so many different composition options even when there were all this "rules". Having that space for the letter to breath and not adding colored pencil to eeeverything was difficult at first but after a few I think I got it haha. I also made lots of mistakes and aloud me to post it even when it wasn't perfect. Sometimes because of the perfection that we are looking for we stop us from actually doing it. I did the wrong color, the wrong side for the shade, one time I even paste the letter backwards haha.
Lo que me gustó de este reto,
Definitivamente intenté algo distinto con el papel, esto es muy diferente de lo que usualmente hago y fue lo que lo hizo más divertido! Me gustó mucho el hecho de que hubieran tantas opciones de composición inclusive teniendo estas "reglas". Tener que dejar espacio para que la letra respirara y no tener que pintar en todo fue algo que me costó pero lo logré. También me di permiso de cometer errores y hasta de postearlos en mi cuenta sin importar. A veces por buscar tanto esa perfección nos ponemos nuestras propias paredes y dejamos de hacer cosas. Así que utilicé el color que no era, coloqué la sombra al lado que no era y una vez hasta pegué la letra al revés.
What I didn't like,
I hated the glue stick haha, I had glue in all my fingers and colored pencils, and it didn't eve glued that well on the letters. Other thing is that I kind of felt that my types weren't as good as the other ones, but also I didn't stop my self from posting it and reminded myself that I could have done it in my regular technique but I wanted to take this challenge to practice something different.
Lo que no me gustó,
Odié la pega de barrita jaja tenía pega en todos los dedos y colores de madera y lo peor es que ni siquiera se pegaron bien las letras!. Otra cosa es que sentí muchas veces que mis letras no eran tan buenas como las demás, pero esto no me hizo parar y traté de recordarme que lo pude haber hecho en mi técnica usual y hubiera sido tan bueno como los demás, pero que fue mi idea intentar algo distinto.
I'm still working in this type because everytime I take pictures all the colors look different hehe so I'm still working on this! Maybe I'll add it on my store!
Todavía sigo trabajando en esta tipo porque cada vez que tomo las fotos los colores me salen todos distintos jaja así que seguimos en esto! quizás las agregue en mi tienda luego!
